Program Delivery
The methodology of instruction is different from that of the conventional system of education. This system is more learner-oriented and the learner is an active participant in the teaching and learning process. Most of the instructions are imparted through distance education methodology and face-to-face mode as per the requirement.
The university follows a multimedia approach for instruction, which comprises of:
a) Self Instructional Written Material: The printed study material (written in self instructional style) for both theory and practical components of the program is supplied to the learners. This study material is collected by the learner from the study center.
b) Audio-Visual Material Aids: The multimedia aids are used at the study centers during specific sessions to give information to the learners.
c) Counseling Sessions: Normally counseling sessions are held as per schedule drawn by the study centers. These are mostly held during the holidays or Sundays.
d) Practical work: Some programs have Practical component inbuilt in the syllabus. Practical schedule is provided by the study centers which has all the facilities. Attendance at practical session is compulsory.
e) Practical Session: In the Yogic Sciences Program 20 days of practical session and in Health Conservation 6 days of practical sessions are organised at various study centers. 80% of attendance is compulsory in these sessions. Those learners who are not attached to any study center they are required to come to DSVV for practical sessions.
f) Sadhna Session: Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya is different from ordinary academic institutions; it is rather a centre of spiritual and cultural transformation. Special spiritual sessions shall be conducted for the students enrolled at various study centers in the university campus.
Evaluation System : DSVV has a two-tire system of evaluation.
1. Continuous evaluation mainly through assignments
2. The term-end examinations.
A learner has to write assignment responses which are evaluated by the counselors leading to continuous evaluation. A learner has to submit the Assignment to the coordinator of study center concerned to which she/he is attached.
Term end examination is conducted at various examination centers spread all over Uttarakhand in June and December.
A learner is required to get 50% marks both in the assignment and term end exam to qualify a course.
*Note – Passing marks is revised to 40% for candidates enrolled from session July 2012
