Dev Sanskriti University is awarded with the “Yoga Excellence Award“, jointly by the Central Minister for “Ayush” and the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. The university has been awarded for its excellent work and distinguished contribution in the field of Yoga. Shri Pad Nayak is the Central Minister for “Ayush” while Shree Harish Rawat is the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. On behalf of the Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, the Registrar, Shree Sandeep Kumar and the Head of the Yoga Department, Shree Suresh Barnwal, accepted the award. The function was held at the Parade Ground, Dehradun before thousands of eyewitnesses along with various ministers of the state like the Health Minister, Shree Surendra Singh Negi and others.
In the past 13 years, DSVV has made an International Identity in the field of Yoga by securing top positions in the competitions held at national and international levels. Currently, where on one hand, Dilrajpreet Kaur, being the Brand Ambassador of Uttarakhand for Yoga, has won many national and international awards, while on the other hand, Aditya Prakash from DSVV has set up a world record by maintaining the posture of Sheersh Asana continuously for 90 minutes. Along with that, thousands of yoga camps are being organized at various locations of the country by the teachers and students of DSVV. Keeping all these facts in mind, the central government chose DSVV for such an award.
Dev Sanskriti University is also offering an important role in the selection of Yoga Courses at the central school level. The Ministry of Human Resource and Development is currently working to bring in Courses on Yoga at the central School level and has set up a committee to do the job. DSVV has been specially invited to join the committee. The course which begins from the July, 2016 session is to be set up by 8 institutions from all over the nation, who collectively form the committee. Keeping the fact in mind, that DSVV has been working to bring forward the concept of Yoga at the International Level, that DSVV is selected for the job. Honorable Chancellor, Dr. Pranav Pandya, expressed this accomplishment as the subject of pride for the university and forwarded his best wishes for the future.
