Q. 1- What is Mass Communication ?
Ans- Mass Communication is the Communication with the masses, within the masses. It is generally identified as the transmission of information, education and entertainment to the people by making the use of mass media i.e. Newspaper, Magazine, Radio, TV, Film, Ad, PR, Net, Multimedia etc.

Q. 2–What is the importance of Mass Communication in the field of Journalism?
Ans- Journalism is nothing else but mass communication. It is the events of the day distilled into few words, sounds or pictures processed by the mechanics of Communication to satisfy the human curiosity of the world that is always eager to know what is new. Since a journalist has to Communicate his ideas to the common masses, he must be a good mass Communicator, who knows how to Communicate with the masses, within the masses keeping in view the level of the his target group.

Q. 3- What are the Chief Objectives of JMC Department?
Ans. To develop Professional competency of the student and Refine his personality for the value based Journalism.

Q. 4– What are the efforts towards developing Professional competency?
Ans. With theoretical knowledge, due emphasis is given on Practical sessions, Monograph, Research Projects, Reporting and Dissertation work. 3 weeks field training at different Media houses. Seminars, GD and Workshops. Departmental News Magazine for reporting and Editing Practice. Provision of interaction with the Leading Professionals of media.

Q. 5 – What are your efforts to inculcate value based Journalism?
Ans. Special attention given on refinement of Personality. Life Management paper is part of curriculum. Meditation and Geeta classes taken by Chancellor and Spiritually charged ambience and disciplined life style is the integral part of the Campus life.

Q. 6 – What is done to foster spirit of social commitment?
Ans. 3 months Internship training is the important aspect of education here. Creative interaction with common masse and classes becomes a life time experience to all students, infusing a deep sense of social commitment.

Q.7 – What are Departmental facilities (lab) for Practical experience of the students?
Ans- We have a fully equipped Computer Lab with latest software facility for composing and editing purpose. EMRC under construction for Electronic Production. EMD, Shantikunj as supportive facility in audio-video production.

Q. 8 – What is the criteria of selecting the students?
Ans. We prefer students who are energetic, creative and talented. Above all students with aspirations of Higher life values and be a part of the positive and creative change in the society is the much demanded stuff.

Q. 9 – What type of language background you expect from the students?
Ans. Students with command over Hindi and English are the first preference. Command over one language and workable knowledge of the other language is the last choice.

Q.11 – What type of courses are offered?
Ans- There is a two year degree course (MJMC) and one year diploma course (DJMC). Courses consist of all the areas of print and electronic media. Besides print and electronic media exposures, students are well trained in the field of Public Relations and Advertisement.

Q.12– What is the provision of educational Tours for the students?
Ans – Educational tour is an important aspect of study here. To impart the Practical exposure we organize Tours of different Print and Electronic media houses at Dehradun, Noida, Delhi and other places. Under creative writing Students visit places of Social, Cultural and Spiritual significance. Trekking tour under Travelogue is also a special feature of the program.

Q.13- What are the future Plans to further enrich the Department?
Ans – 1. Dummy newspaper named “Sanskriti Chetna” to be launched by Annual Day Function in September, 2008.
2. Yearly Feature Magazine at the end of the session.
3. A Community Radio to be set up.
4. Advanced Diploma in Animation & Visual effects Course to be launched soon.
5. A National workshop on Media’s Role Value based Journalism.
6. Interactive session with different Media schools.
7. Specialized Course in – New Media.
