An international workshop on Yoga and Indic Studies was organized in the Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya from 21st February to 4th March. The participants had an ample opportunity to understand and realize the Indian Culture and Yoga. The daily routine from 21st February which consisted of Yajna, Yoga, Meditation, and other classes routed their way to divine peace and spirituality.

The daily routine in the International workshop started with the Yajna practices in the morning followed by Yoga classes which made the participants realize freshness and inspiration. The teachers and the special experts of the DSVV enlightened and guided the participants on various topics like human development, Pragya Yoga, Panchkarma, Naturopathy, Acupressure etc.. Knowing these specialties of Indian culture, they became happy and cheerful. Participants prayed for the welfare of the entire world by reciting Shiva Rudrabhishek on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri Festival. Besides that they also took the advantage of visiting the sacred river Ganges and Shantikunj.

Addressing the concluding session of the workshop, Dr. Chinmay Pandya, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University, remarked that the sense of “Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam” (Entire world as one family) is soaked in the Indian Culture. The entire world is like one family and we live here in DSVV with that spirit. DSVV welcomes you from the depth of hearts. Dr. Pandya further said that there are lots of similarity in language, rituals and culture of the Latvian and Indian Culture. He said that the world today is crazy behind material progress where as real happiness and peace lies in spiritual progress which is involved in Yoga and Indian Culture. This not only helps in the physical and mental development but also makes emotional and all round human development possible, which the world needs, the most, today.

The head of the Latvia group, Arnis Silins, describing his experience said that the education and knowledge that they have received here is not possible anywhere else. He said that DSVV and the Shantikunj are working for the entire humanity. They experienced divinity in each individual, object and the environment of DSVV. All participants sang a group song to share there spiritual perceptions. The song that they sang in the foreign language was such filled with emotions that the entire atmosphere of DSVV went rejoicing. They pledged together to work for the world humanity together.  The Hon. Chancellor of DSVV, Dr. Pranav Pandya, and the Head of the All World Gayatri Pariwar, Shraddheya Shail Jiji, gave their blessings and guidance to all.

Dr. Suresh Barnwal, the Head of the Yoga Department, Dr. Shiv Narayan Prasad, the Head of the Music Department, academic staff and all participants, marked their presence in the concluding ceremony. Certificates and DSVV souvenirs were presented to all the participants. Dais operation were managed by Shri Gopal Krishna Sharma.
