On 23rd February a National Seminar on “Vedic Knowledge, Cultural Heritage and Contemporary life” was organized jointly by the Department of Yoga and Health, the Centre for Scientific Spirituality Studies and ICPR (Indian Council of Philosophical Research) at Dev Sanskriti University (DSVV). Students from different universities of the country including DSVV, Gurukul Kangri University, Patanjli University, Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, etc. attended the Seminar. The program began with the enkindling of the lamp jointly by Mr. Rajneesh Kumar Shukla, the chief Guest of the program and the honorable Secretary of ICPR, and Dr. Chinmay Pandya, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of DSVV.
Presiding over the program, Hon’ble Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. Chinmay Pandya, said that the seminar was held to assimilate critical thinking. The present time is different from the ancient times. Enemy in olden days was without and declared, while today, it is within and has penetrated into our ideas, character and lifestyle, with which we have to struggle, continuously, throughout the day. It is much like the inner battle of Dev-Asur (Gods and Demons). It is only when we dive deep into the Vedic Knowledge, Upanishads and other books of our culture with faith that we find a solution to this problem.
The welcoming speech of the program was delivered by Dr. Suresh Lal Baranwal, the Head of the Department of Yoga and Health. Dr. Jaidev Vedalankar, in the second session of the Seminar, described the importance of the Vedas highlighting the eternal concept of Vedic knowledge. He also spoke about the congregations of the Universe described in the Vedas, mathematical experiments of the Vedas, mathematical astrology, planetary conditions and calculation of solar years. Researcher Lokesh Chaudhary presented his views on ‘Elements of Yoga from Yajur Veda’ while Researcher Rohit Kumar spoke on ‘Environment from the Vedas’. Dr. Govind Prasad Mishra from the University of Patanjali, and Dr. Indu Sharma presented their views on ‘Religion and Sects inherent in Yoga’ and ‘Education in Vedas’, respectively. On this occasion, an e-processing of Research papers by a Researcher was also released.
The program was attended by Dr. Ishwar Bharadwaj, the Head of the Yoga Department of Gurukul Kangri University, Prof. Sukhanandan Singh, Dr. Gyanendra Pandey, Dr. Vandana Srivastava, Dr. Piyush Trivedi, teachers, researchers, and students from different universities.
