The Department of Environment Sciences and the National Service Scheme of the Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, jointly, organized a program of tree plantation on the occasion of the Environment Day. Besides this, several other creative programs were also organized. Members of the departments provided information related to environment in the areas near the university and carried out the weekly plantation program. On this occasion, all other departments of the university pledged to celebrate Yoga Day and, until the Yoga day, carry out tree plantation programs in different phases. This time under the guidance of the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. Chinmay Pandya, more emphasis was laid on organizing tree plantation and awareness programs by all the departments. According to Dr. Pandya, in this period of Global Warming, tree is the only resort which emerges as a boon for human society and all other creatures. Today, plantation is the only option through which the horrific situation of ‘earth crisis’ can be dealt with. Discussing the importance of bio-diversity, Dr. Pandya, emphasized on promoting the Vriksha-Ganga campaign through various innovative methods. All departments committed to start working at their level on this plan. The coordinators and teachers of all the departments were present in this program.
