World Water Day celebrated by the Department of Environmental Science

The Department of Environmental Science, Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, celebrated the World Water Day, on Thursday, 22 March 2018. Inauguration session began at 11:00 AM with enkindling of the lamp and chanting of the Gayatri Mantra. Departmental level activities were performed by staff members and students such as Quiz-competition, Poster and Slogan competition. All faculty members presented their experiences on related theme. Several documentaries were also played in the department to spread the awareness about water conservation. The students from Graduation and Post-Graduation level actively participated in the event to promote water conservation. The World Water Day is celebrated every year for draw our attention on the importance of water. This year it was celebrated under the theme ‘Nature for Water’.
The poster competition was conducted for students of B.Sc. Hons. (Env. Sc.) on the theme of water conservation. The students with their creativity turned the canvas in to a spectrum of beautiful colors. Beautiful slogans were quoted by the students of M.Sc. (Env. Sc.) displaying that a drop of water is more important in one’s life than a bag of Gold.
Dr. Pankaj Saini, the coordinator of theDepartment inspired the students to work collectively to conserve water and emphasized on the need of building a “Blue Earth”.
During the valedictory session, Dr. Pankaj Saini, Dr. Sudhanshu Kaushik and Dr. Sushil Bhadula gave away the prizes. In B.Sc. Level, Asmita Vats, Tanya Kanwa and Yogeshwar Vats won the First, Second, and third position, respectively, while Anjali Pundir won the consolation prize in poster making competition. At the level of masters, Prerna Sharma, Apoorva Saxena and Priyanka Sharma won first, second and third prize, respectively, in slogan competition.
The ceremony ended with vote of thanks by Mr. Mohit Sharma followed by recitation of Shantipath.
