Brief Introduction

About the Department

Establishment

Department of Environmental Science was established during the year 2010.

Future Vision

Environmental science is one of the fastest growing science and environmental issues are well-known to everyone, today. Department of Environmental Science is planning for different sustainable approaches which would be advantageous for academicians, researchers, students as well as for the local community and betterment of local environment. The Department shall continue its duty of imparting education through its graduate, post-graduate and research programs. We have planned to introduce job oriented / Industry oriented new degree and diploma courses. Department of Environmental Science wishes to establish student and teacher exchange programs with the institutions/ universities within state as well as other states of country to benefit from their expertise in the field of research.

Department of Environmental Science would like to continuation of the present teaching and research activities. Department of Environmental science planned to conduct various Seminar, workshop in collaboration with nearby universities/ institutions/ scientific societies in near future. Department of Environmental Science wishes to establish a team of volunteers for the development of local environmental conditions in general and Ganga cleaning plan in particular and for the sustainable management of environment through general awareness. Our main priority is to create research atmosphere for students. It is also our future plan to publish high quality research journal.

  • Spiritual, peaceful, green ambience of the University for concentrating youthful energy towards the real purpose of education.
  • The Department is actively involved in extension and field outreach activities.
  • The involvement of staff in teaching, research and examination work within the university.

Departmental Infrastructural Facilities

Library

The departmental library contains large number of books related to various fields of the Environmental Science viz, Ecology, Ecosystems, Environmental Pollution, Biodiversity Management, Tourism Management, Solid Waste Management, Environmental Chemistry, Taxonomy, Hydrobiology, Disaster Management etc. Besides this stock, department subscribes some scientific journals, too. The departmental library is supplemented by the Central Library, which has a good collection of subject related books.

Activities Of  Department

Departmental initiatives

Faculty Members and Students regularly participate in various extension activities as part of the social commitment of the University. Students and faculty members actively participated in following extension activities organized by the Department in recent past:

  • National Program on “Ozone Depletion: Causes & Remediation” on the 16th September 2011 in collaboration with the Society of Environmental Education & Mass Awareness.
  • Workshop and Mass Awareness Program “Ganga Sankalp: For Clean Ganga” on the 15th January 2012 in collaboration with Society of Environmental Education & Mass Awareness.
  • National Seminar on “Plant based management of Ganga water pollution” on the 24 August 2012 in collaboration with CSRI –NBRI (National Botanical Research Institute), Lucknow.
  • Department has contributed at scientific level in National Movement “Nirmal Jan Ganga Abhiyan” organized by the sponsoring body of the University.
  • National Program “Ganga Nirmal Abhiyan” organized by the sponsoring body of the University.
  • Annual celebration of the World Environment Day.
  • Annual celebration of the World Wildlife Week.
  • Quiz competition on International Ozone Day on the 16th September 2014 in collaboration with the Society of Environmental Education & Mass Awareness.
