DSVV Partners with Board of Apprenticeship Training (Northern Region) to Introduce Apprenticeship-Embedded Degree Programmes

Haridwar | 21 July 2025

In a significant move towards strengthening industry-integrated higher education, Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (DSVV), Haridwar, has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Board of Apprenticeship Training (Northern Region), Kanpur, an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The collaboration paves the way for launching Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programmes (AEDP) at the undergraduate level.

The MoU signing took place at the DSVV campus in the esteemed presence of Respected Dr. Chinmay Pandya, Pro Vice Chancellor, DSVV, along with senior officials from BOAT (NR). This partnership is deeply aligned with the transformative vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, reinforcing experiential learning, industry exposure, and outcome-based education.

Bridging Academia and Industry Through AEDP

Beginning the academic session 2026–27, fifteen undergraduate programmes at DSVV will incorporate two dedicated apprenticeship semesters (7th & 8th). Students will undergo structured, on-site industry training facilitated through the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal.

In accordance with the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992, eligible students will receive government-funded stipends during their apprenticeship tenure, enabling a financially supported learning experience.

This model not only enhances employability but also ensures students graduate with real-world, professional experience—positioning them competitively in the national and global workforce.

Key Responsibilities Under the Partnership

BOAT (Northern Region) Will:

  • Register DSVV, students, and partner industries on NATS 2.0
  • Facilitate apprenticeship placements and track progress
  • Conduct capacity-building workshops and awareness drives
  • Issue Certificates of Proficiency upon completion

DSVV Will:

  • Integrate AEDP guidelines into curriculum frameworks
  • Mobilize student enrolment for apprenticeship programmes
  • Identify and collaborate with approved industry partners
  • Establish NATS Facilitation Centers on campus, linked to the Placement Cell
  • Monitor employment outcomes to enhance future planning

Together, these measures create a holistic ecosystem of academic rigour, workplace learning, and sustained professional development.

Advancing the Mission of Skill-Based, Value-Oriented Education

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Chinmay Pandya emphasized that the initiative reflects DSVV’s commitment to producing graduates who are not only technically competent but also ethically grounded and socially responsible. He highlighted that true education must inspire inner refinement alongside vocational excellence—values that remain central to the university’s founding vision.

With this MoU, DSVV joins a progressive national movement to integrate higher education with structured skill development and professional training, significantly contributing to India’s mission of developing a future-ready, empowered youth workforce.
